Get to know the passionate and experienced dancers who lead our classes. They're dedicated to teaching breakdance, inspiring creativity, and most importantly, making learning fun for every child.

Justin "JSerious" Velez

-Head Coach

Justin is an American breakdancer, dance educator, and choreographer based right here in New York City. Widely recognized as a prominent figure in the Northeast breaking scene, Justin brings a wealth of experience and passion to our academy.

He began training in breakdance, hip-hop, and street dance in the late 2000s, learning under experienced veterans of classical New York hip-hop culture. His roots run deep in the vibrant dance traditions of our city. As a core choreographer at Elite Dance Complex in Brooklyn, his routines have secured numerous accolades, including awards for Best Hip Hop Technique, Most Entertaining Dance, and multiple Top Crew titles. Justin loves seeing the joy and confidence grow in kids as they master new moves and express themselves through breakdance.

Matthew "Fang" Galea

-Assistant Coach

Matthew started his training at Elite Dance Complex in 2015. He was one of the youngest breakers on the team when New York's Breaking Academy opened in 2017. He has achieved many wins with the team throughout his tenure.

He transitioned into a coaching role under the academy's director and made his official coaching debut in October 2023. Today he continues to train the academy's youth and competitive students along with coaching the competitive team at New York's Breaking Academy.
